Get up to £25 back if your horse falls, unseats rider or is brought down at selected races.

Fallers insurance or “Fails to finish” (a recent rebranding of the fallers insurance offer from Coral) provides an insurance usually in the form of a free bet if your horse falls. Please check the terms of each offer, but in most instances “falls” also includes if the horse unseats the rider (UR), if the horse is brought down by another (BD) or even if the horse refuses to race (RR).

What is Fallers Insurance?

With fallers insurance you will typically receive your money back as a free SNR bet if the horse that you backed, falls or unseats the rider during the race. Fallers insurance is offered only on jumps racing, so there must be jumping involved in the race (bumper races won’t qualify). Fallers insurance also won’t cover your bet if your horse pulls up.

Fallers insurance will usually only apply to the win part of the stake, so if you place an each way bet you won’t receive the place part of the stake back.

Antepost bets will often not qualify for fallers insurance, so if you fancy a horse but want some additional insurance, make sure that you back it on the day of the race, after the time that is stated in the terms and conditions for the offer you looking to take up.

Fallers Insurance will be capped to a certain stake, ranging from between £10 - £25. This means that that is the maximum that you will receive back as a free bet if the horse you backed falls or unseats the rider during the race.

How to Profit From Fallers Insurance

Horses that fall frequently and are inconsistent can sometimes be priced higher than their talent reflects. You can sometimes find additional value in a horse because it has a record of falling on occasions.

It can also offer some peace of mind if you are backing short priced favourites. A famous example of this was when Annie Power looked to be cruising home to victory at the Cheltenham Festival in 2015. It is reported that this fall cost punters nearly £40 million. Another example was Douvan at Cheltenham in 2018, He was travelling strongly until 4 out when he fell with Altior going on to win comfortably.

Matched betting is another way to profit from fallers insurance. This involves backing and laying a horse for a small loss, if the horse then falls, you will receive a free bet and guarantee a profit. Find out more about how to make guaranteed profits from matched betting.
