The Foxhunter Chase is another race at the Cheltenham Festival for amateur riders. The race distance is 3 miles 2 ½ furlongs and in that distance horses and riders must jump 22 fences. The Foxhunter Chase takes place on the new course and is open to horses aged 5 years and older. The race is sometimes referred to as the Amatuer Gold Cup owing to the fact that the race is run over the same course and distance as the actual Gold Cup. Notable recent winners have included On The Fringe, Salsify and Hazel Hill in 2019.

Another tricky affair in The Foxhunters Chase. 7 of the last 12 winners have come from the top 3 in the betting. With 10 of the last 12 winners being 8 years or older. The favourite, Hazel Hill won this race last year and is entered again this renewal.

Staker Wallace

Comes into this race in fine form and could well be the one to beat here.

Shantou Flyer

Has excellent Chelteham form and would be a great EW bet.

  1. 25 of the last 34 winners won their previous race
  2. 7 of the last 11 winners were priced at 15/2 or less
  3. Avoid horses that raced more than 35 days ago
  4. The Irish have won this race the last 7 out of 9 times.
  5. 11 of the previous 12 winners placed in the top 3 in their last race
