It is possible to lock in profit on Sunbets’ Halftime Hero reload if the team you back is leading at half time. Here’s how it works:
1. Place qualifying bets
First, place a qualifying back bet and lay it. There is no known limit on the amount you can bet and qualify for this reload, but remember that the lock in will only be available if the team you back is leading at halftime, so try to keep qualifying losses as low as possible. Which team you choose is significant:
- The favourite is more likely to be leading at halftime, but the lay odds for locking in profit will be poorer or unavailable.
- The underdog is less likely to be in the lead at halftime, but the lay odds for locking in profit will be more favourable.
2. Wait for halftime
If your team isn’t in the lead at halftime, you can’t lock in profit and will take a qualifying loss. If your team is leading at halftime, then the reload is triggered and you can lock in profit.
If your team is leading at half time, Sunbets will pay you your full winnings if your team loses the match. This is effectively a free bet on the other team to win the match, because for your team to lose, the other team must win. We can lay this free bet to lock in profit.
3. Lock in profit
To lock in profit, you need to place a second lay bet – this time you will be laying the other team to win the match. So, if you backed team A to win as your qualifying bet, you need to lay team B to win to lock in profit. You can use the manual matched betting calculator to calculate the correct lay stake.
Because Sunbets will pay you your winnings in full, including stake, if the other team wins, set the back odds and stake to exactly the same as your qualifying bet and set the bet type to “SR”. Now enter the current lay odds and select the exchange market to calculate the amount you should lay and your profits.
Note that you will find better odds if you backed the underdog pre-match, since the pre-match favourites will be seen as more likely to make a comeback.
4. Wait for result
Now that you have placed your second lay bet, you have locked in profit. If the team you originally backed goes on to win or draw the match, your second lay bet will win, earning you instant profit. If the team you originally backed goes on to lose the match, your second lay bet will lose, but you will be paid the full winnings from your original qualifying bet and make profit.
