What Types Of Offers Can I Expect For Royal Ascot?

If you are familiar with horse racing betting offers already, you can expect to see a lot of the most popular promotions running across the 5 day event. It’s not quite as frantic as The Cheltenham Festival, but there will be plenty of free bets for you to take advantage of. Let’s take a look at what you can expect to find.

Pick a Winner at 3/1, 4/1 or 5/1 and Get a Free Bet

A Popular offer with BetfairBet365 and 10bet respectively, you pick a horse to win and if it does (and is over the quoted price to trigger the offer) you will receive a free bet.

For the Betfair offer, you need to pick a horse above odds of 3/1 or above. If it goes on to win the race, you will receive a free bet up to the value of £25 (the free bet will equal the amount that you staked). It is important to note that the horse must go off at a price higher than 3/1 to qualify. If you backed it earlier in the day at 3/1 and it went off at 2/1 and then it went on to win, you wouldn’t qualify for the free bet.

The Bet365 offer works in much the same way, with a couple of slightly different rules. Firstly you must back a horse at odds of 4/1 or above and if it wins you get a free bet of up to £50 determined by the value of your stake. The crucial difference with Bet365’s offer is that criteria for qualifying for a bet of 4/1 or above is determined at the time that you place the bet. So if you back a horse at 4/1 in the morning, but it goes off at 3/1, you will still qualify for the offer. If you do pick a winner at 4/1 or above and it wins, you need to place a bet on the next race with your own money and if it loses you will receive a refund. Note the free bet is only available on the next qualifying race.

10bet´s offer is similar to that of Betfair´s and Bet365´s although the max refund is only £5. If your bet qualifies for the 5/1 offer, you will see a popup when you place the bet asking if you would like to accept the promotion. Simply opt in and then if your horse wins you will receive a £5 free bet that can be used on any sport.

2nd Place Refunds

2nd place refunds used to be a lot more readily available throughout the racing calendar. Sadly they are now normally only available for weekend racing and during the major meetings. The introduction of William Hill´s2nd place refund as cash promotion has done a lot to improve the landscape recently and will be available during Royal Ascot. Because Ascot is one of those major events in the horse racing calendar, you can expect to find a fair few 2nd place refund promotions from the major bookies. The likes of Sporting Bet, Unibet, Betway, Bwin will usually run 2nd place refund offers on selected races during Royal Ascot, usually on ITV races (or selected ITV races).

To take advantage of a second place refund, you back a horse to win and if it comes 2nd you will receive a free bet equivalent to your stake. You treat it as a form of insurance for your bet if you will. Look for races with strong favourites to back and if they come 2nd you’ll get that refund to the value of your stake

2nd to SP Fav Refunds

The 2nd to SP refund is similar to the 2nd place refund mentioned above, but with one crucial difference. In order to trigger the free bet your horse needs to come 2nd to the starting price favourite in the race. The SP favourite is the horse with the shortest odds when the race commences.

As you’ll be no doubt aware this offer is nowhere near as valuable as a 2nd place refund promotion because there are 2 outcomes that must occur instead of just 1. Your horse must finish 2nd and the favourite must win. That said this offer can still be utilised to realise an edge for the punter. During Royal Ascot, look out for races with a very strong favourite and back another horse that is fairly short in the betting, this should give you a decent chance of either hitting the win or getting the refund. Boylesports run this promotion daily and Ascot will no doubt be one of the selected meetings.

2 Clear Bonuses

Bookies like Betfred, Bruce Betting have  been known to run the 2 Clear bonus on selected meetings and races, so keep your eyes peeled.

With 2 clear by the likes of Betred and Bruce Betting, If the horse you backed wins by 2 lengths or more, you will receive a free bet to the value of your stake.

2nd By a Length Or Less Refunds

The 2nd by a length refund is popular with Coral, ThePools and Jennings Bet. For this offer to trigger a free bet at Royal Ascot you need to back a horse and it needs to come 2nd by a length or less. A length in horse racing is about 8 feet and a good way to check if your horse was beaten by a length or less is to look on the fast results website. Click on the race that you were betting on and then click full result. The distance will be shown in red for the horse that came second, right next to the image of the jersey. Handicap races can be good for this offer as they are normally closely contested affairs.

2nd By a Neck or Less Refunds

This is exactly the same as the promotion above but your horse needs to come second by a neck or less. A neck in horse racing terms is 0.3 of a length.

Free Bets For Lengths

Coral champion this horse racing offer and it´s pretty easy to explain. You back a horse to win and if it wins by more than a length, you receive a £1 free bet for the number of lengths that it wins by. This is capped at a maximum of £10, so if your horse wins by13 lengths, you will still only receive a £10 free bet. Bruce Betting also run the free bets for lengths promotion from time to time for Irish customers.

If a Nominated Horse Wins, Get a Free Bet

This is one of the most popular Paddy Power offers , especially during major festivals and for ITV racing. Paddy Power will select a horse for a particular race (usuallyone race per day). If that horse wins they will refund all losing bets (up to £10 stake) on that race. To qualify you will need to back a horse other than the one nominated by Paddy Power to qualify.

Best Odds Guaranteed

Best odds guaranteed is a promotion that no horse racing punter should be without, given that it is offered by the majority of UK bookmakers online. BOG means that if you place a bet on a horse and it goes off at a bigger price and wins, you will be paid the bigger price. Ladbrokes also offer BOG on selected meetings in store for grid customers.
