Also known as the Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase, this is typically the second to last race of The Cheltenham Festival. It is a Grade 3 National Hunt Chase handicap race. The distance is 2 miles 1 ½ furlong  with 14 fences to jump. The race takes place over the new course and has a purse of over £100,000. Recent winners include Rock the World, Solar Impulse, Next Sensation and Croco Bay.

Only 1 of the last 12 favourites have won this race and 4/12 have come from the top 3 in the betting. Last year’s winner was a 66-1 shot, so well done if you were on that one.

Greaneteen

Paul Nichols loves this race having won it with Le Prezien and Solar Impulse. He’s mentioned that he really fancies this one and if you can stomach 8-1, he might be worth having a couple of quid on. He’s currently favourite, based on a lot of the above, so I wouldn’t say there’s much value in it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he won it.

On The Slopes

On The Slopes holds some appeal in this race at 25-1. He was 3rd at Cheltenham over Christmas and won last time out. He always runs his race and may be in the mix.

Eclair De Beaufeu

Won last time out and is primed to run his race here.

  1. 14 of the last 16 winners had run at the Cheltenham Festival previously
  2. 11 of the previous 16 winners were aged 8 years or older
  3. 6 of the last 9 winners were rated between 140-147
  4. Horses that won their previous race have only won this race once out of 14 times
