The Triumph Hurdle kicks off the final day of racing at The Cheltenham Festival. It is a Grade 1 National Hurdle Race with a distance of 2 miles 1 furlong. Over the duration of the race there are 8 hurdles and it takes place on the new course. The race is for novice hurdlers aged 4 years. It is the leading event of the racing calendar exclusively for juveniles. Notable recent winners include Peace And Co, Ivanovich Gorbatov, Defi du Seuil and Pentland Hills.

The Triumph Hurdle can be a tricky race for punters. The last 2 renewals of this race have produced a 9-1 and a 20-1 winner, with only 3 of the last 12 favs winning this race. That said, 8 of the last 12 winners did come from the top 3 in the betting.

Allmankind

There is a lot to like about Allmankind. His initial victory over hurdles on 8th November at Warwick was something to behold, bolting up by an almighty 37 lengths. He followed that up with another impressive win at Cheltenham in the JCB Triumph Hurdle and then a Grade 1 win at Chepstow. At 4-1 there is still a bit of value to be had and he won’t need improve much to be in the mix. His biggest dangers will be Solo and Goshen, but with Goshen’s jumping often leaning more on the erratic side and Solo, coming of a run just 3 weeks prior to the festival on testing ground, I’ll be siding with the fresher horse in Allmankind.
